Job Description
We are on the lookout for a Data Scientist - Logistics , Service (all genders) to join our team to help us create a fast, reliable and transparent delivery experience with outstanding customer service.
You will join the Service Data Science squad, a new team set up to support all aspects of our Customer, Rider and Vendor service technology. Together, we will optimize the customer service experience across more than 10 million orders per day, delivering solutions at scale. Projects range from designing and analyzing experiments to optimize customer UX, to using large language models to support our conversations with customers. We pride ourselves on our ability to connect research and theory to practical problems, and to bring our solutions to production systems. The squad is supported by an amazing team of ML Engineers who build reusable tooling, so our Data Scientists are able to focus on solving the modelling challenges. We also integrate closely with product teams so that we keep connected to the needs of the organization.
What you'll do
- Conceptualize the right modelling approach for challenges in the field of Customer Service at scale, together with your squad lead and our stakeholders, using cutting-edge research to inform your decisions
- Build solutions end-to-end from inception to production-grade systems - including research & prototyping, gathering data requirements, cross-team alignment, product development, experimentation, deployment and monitoring.
- Provide ideas in brainstorming sessions with your Data Science colleagues to solve the toughest modelling problems together, pitching new ideas and improvements to non-technical stakeholders.
- Help defining data needs to further improve existing projects, to support data engineering and tech teams in planning their roadmap.
- Work with (semi-)structured data from our BigQuery DWH architecture and process with Spark where necessary.
- Contribute and make an impact in a global, fast-moving tech organization.

What we expect from you
- You are excited to solve large-scale real-world data science challenges. Prior experience with Customer Service problems is a plus.
- You have experience applying machine learning or statistical methods to real-world datasets and a proven track record of delivering data science solutions to production systems.
- You have a strong sense of responsibility and desire to run software for millions of users: we build it, we run it
- You have experience with a range of modeling techniques. Current projects include experimental design and AB testing, Bayesian analysis, natural language processing and time series forecasting, so if you have experience or a desire to learn and contribute in one of these areas, we would love to hear from you!
- You have experience handling large datasets efficiently with SQL
- You can write maintainable code that follows best practices in software engineering.
- You have an eye for detail. Before starting to work on a use-case, you carefully challenge existing assumptions and care about clean data.
- You are a strong communicator and can explain the intuition behind your modeling approach to people with different backgrounds.
- You are fluent in Python, and familiar with a range of scientific and statistical libraries. Other languages are a bonus!
- You have experience with a range of software engineering tools including Git, Docker, cloud technologies (GCP/AWS), Kubernetes, CI/CD, and pipeline tools such as Metaflow.
- You love to learn, are a critical thinker and creative problem solver who strives for excellence.
- You are a team player who loves to collaborate and work with stakeholders from different tech teams in a diverse environment.
- You are fluent in English.
