We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer, Marketing & Marketplace Intelligence, to help us build a world-class experimentation platform (A/B testing) and enable thousands of experiments for our product and marketing teams. In this role, you will enhance our attribution system and provide marketers with tools to improve efficiency and quality. You will collaborate closely with our product, marketing, finance, analytics, and data science teams, utilizing top-notch analytics tools, ensuring data quality, promoting data discoverability, and working on reporting solutions, data pipelines, data storage, and more.

Our mission is to empower the marketplace & marketing departments at GetYourGuide to make data-driven decisions by delivering data and reporting solutions and continuously improve our AB Experimentation and Attribution platforms.

What you'll do

  • Design and implement features in our A/B experimentation platform using scalable and efficient data engineering and software engineering practices.
  • Increase the number of experiments run by product and marketing teams, allowing faster learning about new features and reducing the time needed to investigate experimentation results.
  • Contribute to and scale our marketing attribution system, improving user efficiency and data quality through tools and processes.
  • Enhance data discoverability, reduce the time required to answer questions, and help users generate more impact with data using AI and advanced solutions.
  • Partner with product, marketing, engineering, and data teams to understand how to improve the platform and leverage it further.
  • Mentor and develop team members and peers.

What we expect from you

  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in a data role (BI, Data Engineering, and related areas), including data warehousing and analytics tools, techniques, and technologies.
  • Data Engineering: Expertise with SQL & OLAP, developing data pipelines and data models, and experience organizing and querying data at scale in data warehouses (such as Delta, Snowflake, PostgreSQL, MySQL) while ensuring data quality, accuracy, and reliability. Familiarity with tools like Hadoop or Spark.
  • Reporting & Insights: Knowledgeable in data visualization concepts using business intelligence reporting tools (Looker, Tableau, Jupyter Notebooks).
  • Software Engineering: Strong fundamentals in Computer Science with a polyglot mindset. Proficient in Python (and comfortable with Java or Scala) and capable of working with various programming languages. Passionate about delivering clean code and exploring new tools, languages, and practices.
  • Business Experience: Ability to prioritize and manage stakeholders; known for good communication and collaboration skills.
  • Autonomy: Autonomous, proactive, and customer-oriented mindset. Takes ownership of projects.
  • Teamwork: Believes that a team is more than the sum of its members. Finds mentoring and sharing knowledge fulfilling.

Nice to have:

  • A/B Experimentation: In previous roles, you either worked on developing or worked directly with an A/B platform. You understand concepts like assignment, exposure, sample size, and bias. You are also comfortable discussing and rationalizing these concepts with non-technical people.
  • Marketing Attribution: You are familiar with marketing attribution models and concepts and have worked with multi-channel data sources and processes.
  • Experience with big data technologies (e.g., Spark, Kafka, Hive, Hadoop).
  • Experience with data manipulation tools and libraries (e.g., PySpark, Pandas, R).
